The Kaizen Vest, inspired by the Japanese philosophy of ‘continuous improvement,’ reflects Wave Texture’s dedication to thoughtfully enhancing timeless silhouettes with innovative details. Designed to enhance the functionality of the Pierre Raincoat, the Kaizen Vest evolved from its origins as a complementary layer to become a fully realised standalone garment after three meticulous prototypes. Drawing inspiration from Japanese military quilt liners, the vest features a padded textile that merges tactical utility with contemporary design. Its structured silhouette and thoughtful details, such as side strap adjustments and a cartridge holder, echo the rugged charm of military gear while maintaining a refined, modern aesthetic.
Practical with two spacious front pockets and a large hunting pocket on the back. Perfect for carrying essentials like a book, any gear, or water bottle, these riveted pockets ensure durability and convenience for everyday adventures. The cartridge holder, while true to its military roots, can also accommodate modern necessities—pens, sunglasses, or even a Carambar for a touch of humour.
Featuring a 4-point fastening system, the Kaizen Vest is designed to seamlessly integrate with the Pierre Raincoat, completing the ensemble and extending the Pierre’s versatility across seasons.
Crafted with precision, the quilted fabric of the Kaizen Vest is a standout feature. The outer layer, made from water-resistant polyester ripstop sourced from a Louis Vuitton deadstock, offers technical performance and sustainability. Inside, the 100% cotton ripstop lining ensures breathability and comfort, the contrast being particularly noticeable when you slide your hands into the pockets.

Side straps
Inspired by the structure of a bulletproof vest, the Kaizen features adjustable side straps that allow it to contour closely to the body or sit more relaxed — adapting to different builds and styling choices. Made from utilitarian high-tenacity webbing and finished with polished silver buckles, the system balances rugged function with a refined edge.
Rip-Stop Shell W/ Insulation
The Kaizen Vest features a unique insulation developed specifically for this piece — a virtuous design choice made possible through the upcycling of Louis Vuitton deadstock materials. The outer shell is crafted from a water-repellent ripstop polyester blend, providing protection from the elements and enhanced durability. Inside, a 100% cotton lining ensures softness and breathability. The vest is filled with a distinctive 250 gsm ouatine, quilted in a wavy pattern inspired by Japanese army liners, offering both warmth and structure.
Excella Zipper & Riveted Pockets
To ensure both style and durability, the Kaizen Vest is equipped with premium metalware throughout. A two-way Excella zipper provides versatility in styling and long-term resilience. The front pockets are reinforced with rivets at stress points, securing them firmly in place for dependable daily use.
4-Point Fastening System
Originally developed as a removable winter liner for the Pierre Raincoat, the Kaizen Vest has evolved into a standalone garment — more companion than accessory. Its discreet 4-point fastening system allows it to attach securely to the Pierre during colder months, or be worn independently across seasons. An inverted hook at the back lets it hang neatly when not in use, combining function with thoughtful design.
Hunting Pocket
The Kaizen Vest features a large back hunting pocket — a detail that may seem nostalgic at first, but quickly proves indispensable. Kept through multiple prototype rounds, it offers a surprising middle ground between full utility and minimal carry.
